Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This policy explains what information [Business legal name], doing business as The Honduran Way ("we", "us"), collects when you visit thehonduranway.com, ask for our free sample, buy one of our digital books, or write to us, and what we do with it.
1. Information you give us
- Free sample and email letters. Your first name (optional) and email address when you ask for the free sample pages.
- Questions. Your name (optional), email address and the message you write in our question form or send by email.
- Purchases. When you buy, our payment processor, Stripe, collects your payment card and billing details. We receive limited information from Stripe, such as your name, email, the product, the amount, your country or postal code, and the card brand and last four digits. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Refund and support requests. Whatever you choose to tell us so we can help.
2. Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records basic technical data when pages load: IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running.
- Your browser's local storage. The site saves a small note in your own browser so the free-sample pop-up does not keep reappearing after you close it or sign up. It never leaves your device and contains no personal information. You can clear it in your browser settings.
- Email engagement. Our email provider, ActiveCampaign, records whether our emails are delivered, opened and clicked, using standard tracking pixels and links. We use this to see which letters are useful and to stop emailing people who never open them.
- Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads, as described in Google's own privacy policy.
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies and we do not use session-recording tools. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first.
3. How we use your information
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis (for visitors in the EU/UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Send the free sample and our email letters | Name, email | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Deliver a book you bought, send the receipt and download link | Name, email, purchase details | Performing our contract with you |
| Answer your questions and handle refunds | Name, email, your message, purchase details | Performing our contract; our legitimate interest in helping customers |
| Keep the site and shop secure and prevent fraud | Server logs, purchase details | Our legitimate interest in security |
| Keep tax and accounting records | Purchase details | Legal obligation |
4. Email letters and how to stop them
When you ask for the free sample, you also join Doña's kitchen letters, about one email a week with recipes, stories and occasional offers for our books. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works with one click. You can also write to us at [support email] and we will remove you. Receipts and download links for things you bought are sent even if you unsubscribe from the letters.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run the business for us, and only what each needs:
- ActiveCampaign (email list and email sending)
- Stripe (payment processing and fraud prevention)
- Our website host (serving the pages and their logs)
- Google Fonts (typefaces, as described above)
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or to a buyer if the business is ever sold, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We also honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing.
6. How long we keep it
- Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We remove contacts who have not opened an email in a long time.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 7 years.
- Questions you send: up to 2 years after we answer, unless they are part of a purchase or refund record.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including California and other US states with privacy laws, and the EU and UK), you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- withdraw your consent to emails or object to how we use it;
- opt out of any sale or sharing (we do neither); and
- not be treated differently for using these rights.
To use any of them, email [support email] from the address you used with us. We may need to confirm it is you. We answer within 30 days, and within 45 days where California law applies. In the EU or UK you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Where your information is stored
We and our providers are based in the United States, so your information is stored and processed there. Our providers use standard contractual protections for information transferred from the EU and UK.
9. Children
This site and our books are made for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, payments are handled entirely by Stripe, and access to our email list is limited to the people who run the business. No system is perfectly secure, so please use an email address you control and tell us if you see anything wrong.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
